Gary Connery has become the first person to ever jump from a plane without deploying a parachute.
The 42-year-old stuntman instead donned a wingsuit to help slow his fall and to glide in to land amongst a huge pile of over 18,000 cardboard boxes. While Connery was equipped with a parachute in case something went wrong he didn't use it at all during the descent which saw him falling at speeds of up to 80mph.
"I have been training and planning for this record attempt for many years now and I am so proud to have achieved a world first," he said. "I want to thank everyone involved for their support and belief in me because this really has been a team effort. "I was absolutely fine afterwards. I was completely buzzing."
A stuntman is thought to have become the first person to jump out of a helicopter and land safely without deploying a parachute. Gary Connery, 42, used a "wingsuit" to make his descent from 2,400ft (730m) above Oxfordshire.
