Town of 'Dull' to be linked with 'Boring'

Two towns with less than exciting names are set to be formally linked following a vote later today.
The small town of Dull in Scotland has a population of just 84 and is a popular tourist destination with several guest houses and lodges. The town of Boring in the United States on the other hand has a population of over 10,000. The similarity in the names was spotted by Elizabeth Leighton during a cycling holiday in the US and since then plans have been put forward to formally announce a connection between the two towns.

"We are also excited at the prospect of a new road sign, which will say something like 'Dull, in association with Boring'," said Dull chairman Marjorie Keddie.
Residents of a small village called Dull are confident they will become a "sister community" with the US town of Boring today.

I refer readers to the existence of the village of Ham which is situated quite close to the port of Sandwich. (Both in Kent). Concidentally, I posted a photo of the signpost a short while ago. http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=226843&st=285

Boring, Oregon has a part in one of my favorite headlines when I was an Idaho reporter. The old editor told me that in the early 1960s, many smaller towns had a correspondent who contributed a column each week. Who was visited by whom was a common topic. Well, the correspondent for nearby Tensed, Idaho wrote that one of its residents was visited by a friend from Boring, Oregon. The editor wrote a small headline above the column: Tensed woman visited by Boring friend Yep, there IS a Tensed, Idaho. It's pronounced, Ten-said, though. And in the same area there's a Santa, Idaho. I used to mail all... [More]
