How far can our imagination take us when it comes to envisaging extraterrestrial life forms ?
One leading scientist has come up with one of the more unusual concept suggestions for a potential alien life form, Dr Maggie Alderin-Pocock believes that it is possible we could find huge jellyfish-like animals floating through methane clouds on another world. The creatures would feed by scooping nutrients from the clouds in to their mouths while staying aloft through the use of large onion-like buoyancy bags hanging beneath them.

"Our imaginations are naturally constrained by what we see around us, and the conventional wisdom has been that life needs water and is carbon-based," said Dr. Alderin-Pocock. "But some researchers are doing exciting work, playing with ideas such as silicon-based life forms. Silicon is just below carbon in the periodic table, has some chemical similarities, and is widely available in the universe. Her aliens would probably die on Earth, finding the damp oxygenated atmosphere lethally corrosive. Equally, humans would not survive on Titan.

i imagine them as humanoid. actually i like to imagine that aliens are humans from the future. that would solve the whole why would they travel so far problem.

It depends. Given the vastness of the universe, they could come in any form imaginable. For example, what if they are a highly advanced species the size of ants?

What would an alien look like. well first off. Iv never been here before.. and i kinda felt like sharing a bit of my knowledge and finding answers for myself I did see an alien and the rumors about them being cloaked very much is a possibility. As well as the theory iv heard that they psionically target the people they arn't interested in Im not to sure, but i do have a number of uncommon traits. I have type B blood, Im left handed, Iv been terrorized by paranormal experiences my whole life. People, its not something you want. Its not meant for everyone. You can't imagine the horrors that exis... [More]

The majority of planets discovered to date are gas giants. Part of the reason this is so is because the giants are obviously easier to detect, given our present technology but the bulk of "living space" in our galaxy is on gas giants so I would think life would find a way on the GG's. If the above is true, what would life look like on a Jupiter like planet? I am thinking that in the mid to upper levels there would huge gas filled bags floating on the winds absorbing chemical nutrienst through miles long tentacles. Maybe some kind of carnivore that could steer itself and attack the gas bags.

The pictures I saw definitely did not look like this one! Their skin was smooth, not scaly or wrinkled, and their features were not reptilian. Their eyes were smaller and black. Perhaps like an Engineer?

the creatures i saw were faceless. They did not have eyes and they didnt need them. I hardly think any of this crap on here is true Its pretty obviously that a faceless energy being is something much more powerful then some dull boring lizard man.
