Tony Blair briefed on alien defence policy

Concerned about the release of such data, Blair asked the Ministry of Defence for a full briefing on the topic and was told that while the MoD had only a limited interest in UFOs they felt that it was important to remain "open minded" about the possibility of aliens.

In his response to Redfern Blair stated that some data could be released subject to certain clauses including privacy and confidentiality. He concluded by saying that "there is no Government sponsored research into the UFO phenomena and there are no plans to initiate such work."
