55-year-old Rene got more than he bargained for while out on a hunting trip with his three dogs.
Rene had been hunting at St Michel de Double in France when one of his Blue Gascony Basset hounds jumped up on him for a cuddle only to set off his shotgun in the process. The shot ripped through his right hand, causing serious damage. Despite a prompt airlift to hospital doctors were unfortunately unable to save it.
Following the incident Rene is admirably reluctant to let his misfortune get him down and maintains that he doesn't blame the dog over what happened. "I should have left the safety on, that's all," he says.
A French hunter has told how he had to have his hand amputated after his "adorable" dog accidentally shot him.
