Skeletons found in ancient Israeli well

A well dating back 8,500 years was unearthed by workers who were digging up a road in Israel.
The well is believed to have provided water to the local community until it became contaminated by the presence of two dead bodies. Archaeologists excavating the site have identified the skeletons as those of a 19-year-old woman and an older man. Sickle blades, arrows and other tools were also discovered alongside them.

"What is clear is that after these unknown individuals fell into the well it was no longer used for the simple reason that the well water was contaminated and was no longer potable," said excavation director Yotam Tepper. "Wells from this period are unique finds in the archaeology of Israel, and probably also in the prehistoric world in general."
A well dating from 8,500 years ago, with the bones of two prehistoric people inside, was uncovered during recent excavations in the Jezreel Valley, the Israel Antiquities Authority said on Thursday.

Where in the Bible does it say that man is 5000 years old? If it does, then I need to go back and read that chapter. As for the bodies in the well, I wonder if it was a war party that threw them in the well to poison it. Sometimes it was a tactic used. An enemy would come in, kill everyone, loot and throw people alive or dead into the well to contaminate it making sure that any survivors would not be able to survive there once the enemy left.

and the bible says man is 5000 years old.... Ignorance smh I agree with the other posters that the Bible does not say the Earth is 5000 years old. It is various Bible scholars that have attempted to place a date on the Creation of the Earth.

Add up all the "begats", multiply by an arbitrary 25 years per generation, ignore any possible errors and omissions and voila! Not nearly as interesting as the old guy in a well with a 19 year old

Not nearly as interesting as the old guy in a well with a 19 year old Yeah, but all them Patriarchs lived to be 800+ years old, so when those kids came along is a big guess. Maybe they both went for a little skinny dip and the Missus did not approve?

Maybe he wanted to go clam diving, and the rest of the village didn't agree with his taste in clam-years, which are like dog-years for the seasoned ped-... So I'm sure something dramatic must have transpired here.
