NASA calls triple due to doomsday inquiries

NASA has been bombarded with calls from people who believe the world will be ending tomorrow.
With the last day of the Mayan calendar looming, rumors that the world is going to end tomorrow have reached fever pitch. NASA has seen triple the number of inquiries recently thanks to people seeking reassurance over tomorrow's events and the answer is, as always, that there is nothing to worry about.

To help debunk some of the common rumors the space agency has set up a web site to cover the topic. "Our planet has been getting along just fine for more than 4 billion years, and credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012," the site states. Even the modern day Mayan people have distanced themselves from the concept, the end of the calendar is simply the end of one cycle and the beginning of the other - it was never intended to indicate the end of the world.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has seen call volumes triple at times as anxious Americans continue to bombard the agency with inquiries about whether the world will end tomorrow.

Has anyone else heard anything about NASA supposedly sending up 3 passenger shuttles without announcing it? No clue if it's true or not, just something I saw someone discussing on FB so I thought I'd check here if anyone's heard a similar rumor.

2040 comet 2011AG5 will come close to the earth. 1% chance of it hitting. Pretty good odds!
