Cops saw 'ghost' during 9/11 rubble search

Several police officers recalled seeing something paranormal while sorting through the rubble.
According to some of the law enforcement officers who were tasked with sifting through the debris of the World Trade Center after the September 2001 terrorist attacks there were several reports of unusual sightings at Ground Zero that to this day defy explanation.

Retired New York City police officer Lt. Frank Marra recalled witnessing a strange woman dressed in black World War II era clothing and holding what looked like a tray of food rations.

The mysterious figure always seemed to appear around 50 yards away from him but would inexplicably disappear whenever he strained his eyes to get a better look.
Some police officers also reported encountering dark shadows and 'large black masses' appearing and disappearing while they were sifting through the rubble.

Marra later consulted a psychic medium about his experiences and was told that the figure was a "soul collector" who has helping to guide the spirits of the deceased to the afterlife.

Whether the police officers really did see something paranormal during their time working at the site however is a mystery that is unlikely to ever be conclusively answered.

funny that in ww1 and ww2 where millions people died all over the world nobody saw ghosts and soul collectors ... but they did in new york... And who's to say they didn't? I have a hard time believing that nobody ever reported seeing any paranormal phenomena, anywhere in the UK alone, from 1939 until 1945. Ask around.

Actually, there are numerous accounts of ghosts and paranormal events throughout both world wars. One of the most famous ghost photographs which has withstood the test and scrutiny of time, is of an individual who was killed by an airplane propeller, who appears in a squadron photo after his funeral. There are far too many stories and visions of the unexplained that occur during or after battles. Stories of dead soldiers appearing to squad mates often saving them from death. Talk to anyone who has served in a combat environment, unfortunately today we have a convenient excuse referred to as PT... [More]

unfortunately today we have a convenient excuse referred to as PTSD which although a real problem for most veterans, is often used to dispel accounts of the paranormal. I have never heard of this. Do you have any examples of PTSD that could (not necessarily do, but could) have a paranormal explanation? Welcome to the forums, by the way

Another thing to bear in mind regarding why reporting any possible ghosts sighting is again fear of ridicule, plus also the witness not being sure of just what it was they saw. Put it this way. A worker at the site is taking a breather. Looks around, sees what he thinks is say a WW2 WAC walking around. Now, this worker knows fine that unless there's something going on, a female WAC in service dress just can't be there. After all, the only folk there are folk in construction kit, not military uniform that's not even got a modern variant. So what does the worker do? Ask his mates: "Hey guys! You... [More]

I have never heard of this. Do you have any examples of PTSD that could (not necessarily do, but could) have a paranormal explanation? Welcome to the forums, by the way Thank you for the welcome, Personally, I know of one member of our squad who claimed to have seen a member of our unit earlier one evening standing before the door to our barracks... As he approached, the person just vanished before him.. It was only later that day that he opened up to a few of us saying that it must be finally getting to him and recounting his experience. I thought no more of it and attributed it to stress. Tw... [More]

Thank you for the welcome, You're very welcome. Two days later after returning to base we learned that he had been killed, almost at the same time that his "apparition" was seen. If you don't mind me asking, was he killed before or after your squadmate saw him?

As far as we could tell from the reports we received, the apparition appeared at the same time or minutes later.... Fact is the coincidence of it all and the confirmation we received two days later

I believe these Ghosts are people from wars gone by. The rations offered by the woman in War era attire tell me that war is fruitless. It is when people starve in the suffering. These Ghosts came to help, I believe.

I've never personally seen a ghost but know people that say they have and I find them believable. Not necessarily that they saw the spirit of a dead person but that they saw something. Places where there has been severe trauma such as battlefields, sites of mass executions, etc. ghost sightings are historically reported immediately and even years later. I would guess that the collapse of the twin towers would qualify as traumatic so I would be surprised if people hadn't reported seeing things. It's natural. Couldn't agree more!
