The UFO Phenomenon

'Crashed UFO' spotted in the Antarctic

Is this a UFO or could it just be a hole in the ice ? Image Credit: Google Earth / Valentin Degterev
A UFO researcher in Russia has found what he believes to be a UFO in Antarctica using Google Earth.
Valentin Degterev from Nizhny Tagil in central Russia made the discovery while browsing satellite photographs of the Antarctic wastes on Google's popular mapping service.

The image, which shows what looks like a dark saucer-shaped object embedded in the ice, soon went viral on social media after he posted it online along with the original co-ordinates.

The object is located at 80°34'08.4"S 30°05'19.3"W and appears to be 204ft across.
"I found the unique object using the online service of Google Earth in Antarctica," he said. "In amongst the endless ice desert, it is the most genuine UFO in its most classic shape."

Critics however have argued that the alleged UFO could simply be an optical illusion and that the black shape might actually be a deep crevasse in the ice, not an object sticking out of it.

"I do not presume to know exactly what it is," said Degterev. "It is definitely not a polar station, nor a plane (as there aren't any airplanes or helicopters this big in the world)."

And what on Earth did you make you think that? Cheers, Badeskov I've never read any other sentiment from him (not the same wording, of course, but the same sort of thought).

I've never read any other sentiment from him (not the same wording, of course, but the same sort of thought). Well, I actually have...once. I almost fell down the chair, which was a bit embarrassing as I sat in a Sushi restaurant when I read that little gem.. Cheers, Badeskov

I thought coolguy was known for his indepth research skills and large scale use of references ? I think he's a bot that just posts variations on "could be true" "could be fake" and "definitely true" on random threads.

I just checked his last 5 posts and it seems that he isn't a great believer in punctuation. http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=282946entry5574680

It appears to be where the snow slid a little in the cresent shape of the crater, then froze over creating a crevice.

Shouldn't there be some tracks left by the little green men leading away from the saucer/craft/thing? I mean if any survived.
