The impressive spectacle was caught on camera over the erupting Turrialba volcano in Costa Rica.
Capturing footage of a meteor zooming across the sky can be difficult at the best of times, but as this video from Central America shows, sometimes the perfect shot can happen purely by chance.
The camera which recorded the video had been running at the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica since 2011 and just happened to capture the precise moment a bright meteor streaked across the sky above the churning eruption.
It is thought that the object was a small piece of space debris burning up in the atmosphere.
The footage itself, which lasts only six seconds, can be viewed below.
And we can thank Ernst Floens Chladhi whos book and curiosity led to the research which gives us what we do know about them today - but I can understand how people would think they possessed power, because they have the power to wipe out areas or do damage. But because of what we know today, we no longer have to attribute them with religion, but from inside our solar system.
