Dylan McWilliams defied the odds after being attacked by all three animals within the space of just three years.
Being at the receiving end of a bite from any one of these dangerous beasts is certainly unlucky, but the odds of being attacked by all three of them within such a short period of time are, according to National Geographic, somewhere around 893.35 quadrillion to one.

The most recent of the three encounters occurred off the coast of Kauai in Hawaii where a shark attempted to make a meal out of him while he was bodyboarding.

Fortunately he was able to fend off his attacker and make his way back to shore.
His earlier encounter with a bear happened when he was camping in Colorado and he was also bitten on the leg by a rattlesnake while hiking in Utah a year or so before that.

"We have to respect [animals'] boundaries but I don't think I was invading or provoking any of the attacks," he said. "They just happened."

Despite his close calls with nature however, McWilliams has no intention of giving up any of his outdoor pursuits.

"I still go hiking, I still catch rattlesnakes, and I will still swim in the ocean," he said.
