Is this pub haunted, or is someone pulling a fast one ? Image Credit: YouTube / TheYorkMix
CCTV footage has emerged which appears to show a chair in a nightclub moving entirely on its own.
With the Halloween season fast approaching, this eerie piece of footage - which comes courtesy of a nightclub manager in York, England - is certainly timely, even if it is somewhat controversial.
The black-and-white CCTV clip shows the interior of the 'Popworld York' nightclub just as the manager - who was reportedly the only person in the building at the time - leaves the room.
After a few seconds, one of the chairs can be seen sliding across the floor on its own, stopping and then moving again a few times before the video ends.
"Well that's the last time our manager does a delivery on his own!" the club's Facebook page reads. "Even the ghosts of Popworld know Halloween is around the corner!"
But is this really evidence of paranormal activity or is something else going on ?
It's worth noting that, given that it is impossible to see the entire room, someone could simply be standing off to the side, pulling a piece of string or fishing line that is tied around the chair leg.
The resolution is so low that it would be very difficult to see the string in the clip.
Whether or not this is actually what is happening in the footage however remains unclear.
There's nothing going on here but an obvious setup for a stupid Halloween pub advertisement. That odd chair that has no point being there is center frame for a reason, people. It's so simple to fake it's not even worth considering.
Yes, it's surrounded by stools. They are obviously what is normally used. The rattan chair is much lighter than the steel stools. Which is why I suggested vibration from passing heavy traffic. It would be likely more affected than the heavier objects.
Traffic doesn't even come into play. It's a hoax, fishing line, there is no mystery. Nothing about this comes off as genuine, every single part of it is plastered with red flags.
I remember (years ago) watching a late nite documentary about some haunted american bar. The owner was saying 'I want nothing to do with anything paranormal and never bring up ghosts to anyone'. Then screen cuts to waitress serving customers, wearing custom bar tee shirt "I got drunk with the ghosts" (I couldn't stop laughing). Anyway, many restaurants took a big hit during Covid. If this helps bring in business, don't really see the harm.
Most likely, but even giving the benefit of the doubt there really is no good reason to consider ghosts. Fishing line would be fine so that's another reason they would use the rattan chair as opposed to the metal stools. Less chance it would break.
I saw one of my gloves launch itself from the back of my truck. I was just sitting there minding my own business when all of a sudden it just jumped out and landed a good ways behind me! Glad I saw it or I wouldn't have believed it. I didn't even slow down to go pick it up though...they sell 10 for $10.00 at Home Depot.
Listen up man! Ghosts are in big trouble! They are lost...don't you know? They are like captured in a crazy quantum void thing...there bodies are dead but the mind is still trying to disconnect and they are conscious of the loop but have no clue to escape it. So they move chairs and throw gloves and things trying to get someone's attention. They have no idea we are laughing at the paranormal reality of their suffering. Have a heart man...Ghosts Matter! And as far as not picking up the stools...the rattan chair is easier to hoist if you are a ghost...more things to wrap your air... [More]
