A Russian tourist reportedly fell to his death from the ninth floor of a condo in Thailand earlier this month.
The 27-year-old - named Mikhail - had been staying at a condominium in the Jomtien area of Pattaya, Chon Buri province at the time of the incident.
According to reports, he had approached a security guard on May 22nd and told them that he was being hunted by a "murderous ghost" with "bulging eyes".
After running all over the building, he ultimately died after falling from a 9th-floor window.
"He was completely out of it," the guard later stated.
"He kept saying a ghost with bulging eyes was chasing him and trying to kill him. He was terrified, running up and down the building like a madman."
Another resident of the building claimed to have heard his screams just prior to the fall.
"He was yelling in this awful voice," they said.
"It was like something out of a horror film. But until today, he'd seemed totally normal."
As it turned out, however, there was a very genuine explanation for the man's state of mind.
When police entered his room to investigate, they discovered that he had almost certainly been high on drugs at the time he had fallen from the building.
"We found no evidence of an altercation or break-in," said Deputy Inspector Police Lieutenant Kriangkrai Kaewphipop.
"It appears the victim was hallucinating and jumped voluntarily."
