A new survey has indicated that more than half of Americans believe that they're loved ones have come back to visit them.
It is perhaps one of the most common types of ghost story - someone you know, whether it be a friend, pet or family member - manifesting either in dreams or even in person to visit after they've died.

Now according to a new survey by Pew Research, as many as 53% of adults in the US believe that they have personally experienced a visit of this kind at some point during their lives.
In addition, 34% claimed to have experienced the presence of a dead relative within the last month and 15% have even claimed to have experienced a dead relative attempting to communicate with them.

Around 28% said they had shared the events of their life with their supernatural visitor.

The survey found that women were more likely than men to report such experiences.

Moderately religious people (as oppose to very or slightly religious) were also among those who were most likely to believe that they had been visited by a dead relative.

A lot of people report this sort of thing.  I've never experienced it, other than to have dreams of deceased family members.  I think it is common enough that we should probably take it a bit seriously, given we don't have any evidence based explanation.

One very odd dream, my deceased black cat sat on my chest, asked me strange questions. Though I didn't get any useful information from him or powerball numbers.

Lovecraft would say that your cat is not dead, his incorporeal being, liberated from the limits of his physical body, has returned from unknown regions to converse with you. Perhaps he wants you to accompany him on a dream quest.

My dad passed away when I was 18 I wanted to dream about him but out of the 38 years since he passed I think I’ve only seen him in a dream 3 times very briefly. My brother passed away 30 years ago and I welcomed the chance to dream about him but there again I’ve only seen him briefly 2 or 3 times. My mother passed away 4 years ago and she’s haunted my ass on and off ever since. I knew putting her in that nursing home p***ed her off. She was a mean person that just got ever more mean the older she got. But as far as being visited? I feel them near me sometimes and it’s a feeling I overl... [More]
