The family maintains that their council house is haunted by a ghostly presence that has left them unable to live there.
The High Court in Ireland has recently been dealing with a rather spooky Christmas case concerning a council house that is said to be haunted by a poltergeist.
Thomas and Louise Stokes told the court that the house their family had been moved into to get away from a mould problem in their previous home had left them terrified because of paranormal activity.
This activity reportedly included objects being "flown from side to side" and items being flung around.
Doors, tables and chairs were also seen "moving around in front of their eyes".
A letter from the house's previous occupant, described as "beyond traumatic", was also presented at the hearing.
"Everyone deserves a home. I never asked for a mansion, I asked for a safe home for my kids," said Louise. "I just want somewhere safe for my kids five days before Christmas."
In the end, however, High Court Mr Justice Simons struck out the family's claim against Leitrim County Council because the case had been about their first house with the mould, not about the new one with the alleged haunting.
While he stated that he understood their concerns about the safety of their children, he concluded that claiming for a third house would require a whole new application to the local authority.
Whether the family will spend Christmas with their resident poltergeist, however, remains unclear.
