Back in the 1960s, Sammy Hagar had an experience that would go on to have a profound effect on his life and career.
There seems to be an unusual connection between music legends of the 60s and 70s and the UFO phenomenon, with artists such as David Bowie becoming synonymous with the idea of alien visitation.
Another example is Sammy Hagar - a rock legend who based some of his music on a close encounter that he had experienced one night at his home in California's San Bernadino foothills in the 1960s.
He maintained that he had been lying in bed when he felt like someone was tapping into his brain.
He then claimed to have witnessed two alien entities on a hillside nearby.
"They were playing with a numerical code but it wasn't from our numerical system," he told
Classic Rock back in 2013. "And then, suddenly, this telepathic connection broke."
"And I could actually see them go back to their ship in a beam of light - zap, like lightning."
"For a second there was an infinity of white. I couldn't move. And then it was over. It scared me nearly to death. It was an experience I couldn't understand."
The experience went on to influence much of his musical career.
"My ego was telling me: These aliens have programmed you to be a rock star!" he said.
"So I used it as a tool to write songs about outer space and the future, songs like Crack In The World and Silver Lights, which is about the second coming of Christ - Jesus coming back in a spaceship."
Hagar even gained an interest in space and science and began reading books on Albert Einstein.
"I went on a quest, and I'm still on it," he said.
