The technology firm's latest creation is an intelligent robot that is not only technically impressive, but cute too.
Revealed by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang during the GTC 2025 keynote this week, the robot - which looks like a cross between Wall-E and a droid from Star Wars - waddled onto the stage to much applause as part of a demonstration of how AI and robotics will soon change the world.

Named 'Blue', the cute robot makes a series of sounds reminiscent of the beeps and bloops typically made by R2-D2 and other Star Wars droids and can interact with humans via its head movements.

It uses a new physics engine known as Newton which is due for an open source release later this year.

"Can you believe you're looking at complete real-time simulation ?" said Huang.

"This is how we're going to train robots in the future. Blue has two Nvidia computers inside."
The demonstration was certainly impressive, revealing that it is seemingly already possible to build highly advanced, AI-powered robots that can walk around and communicate with humans.

In practical terms, it's not clear what Blue can do in any useful sense, although there are reports suggesting that Disney is very interested in using the technology at its theme parks.

Once it goes open source, the physics engine used by the robot will be available to everyone, making it possible for other companies and even individuals to build their own robotic creations.

It seems that robotics, like AI, has advanced in leaps and bounds over the last few years.

It probably won't be much longer before robots become commonplace in homes across the world.

I can see why Disney would be interested. Very cute indeed and has more 'character' than the legged humanoid type.

It's cute but pointless.  I wouldn't want a robot who's only communication was beeping.

Cute is a useful disguise for intelligence gathering future dominating robots until they become powerful.
