According to Dr Steven Greer, the controversial object was at the center of a heist attempt earlier this month.
The Buga sphere has been back in the news again this week after it was allegedly almost stolen by thieves who had dressed up as police in an attempt to take it from a vault in Mexico City.
Dr Steven Greer and US Congressman Eric Burlison had been among a group of high-profile individuals who had been visiting the facility at the time.
They were told by controversial UFO researcher Jaime Maussan that the heist attempt had taken place, though it is unclear if the incident has been independently verified.
The sphere itself has been undergoing extensive testing, with samples currently being analyzed in a laboratory and - according to Maussan - efforts underway to 'activate' it using electrical charges.
"Any sort of attempts to interfere with this examination will be known, and the people and perpetrators will be held to account for it," Greer wrote on social media.
It remains unclear exactly who these alleged thieves were and why they wanted to steal the object.
You can watch a video of Greer talking about the incident below.
