The cryptozoological stalwart will be represented by its own emoji, usable on all emoji-supporting devices.
Fans of the alien, flying saucer and ghost emojis will be pleased to hear that another unexplained-themed addition - called 'hairy creature' - will be included in September's Unicode update.
Although it isn't explicitly called 'Bigfoot', the new emoji is unmistakably inspired by the creature seen in the controversial 1967 Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot video.
It's interesting that its creators have chosen a generic title like 'hairy creature' - perhaps to best represent the various different Bigfoot-like creatures reported to exist around the world.
In Australia, for example, the creature is known as the Yowie, while in the Himalayas its the Yeti.
There are dozens of variations and a generic 'hairy creature' emoji basically covers them all.
No doubt it won't be the last cryptozoological emoji to be added, either.
Loch Ness Monster emoji, anyone ?
