A recent YouGov poll has highlighted a widespread belief in the paranormal among people in the United States.
As Halloween fast approaches, many people will be finishing up their costumes, putting up decorations and buying treats in preparation for an evening celebrating all things spooky and scary.

For many, however, paranormal activity and encounters with ghosts are very much the real deal.

In a recent poll, YouGov learned that 60% of Americans claim to have had at least one paranormal experience, with the sense of an unknown presence being chief among the phenomena reported.

Phantom smells, unexplained sounds, weird temperature changes and hearing voices were also commonly reported among those with a story to tell.

Chillingly, 7% even claim to have had first-hand experience with a demonic entity.
In addition, 18% of Americans claim to have lived in a purportedly haunted house, with this cohort also being among the most likely to have reported a paranormal encounter.

In terms of general beliefs, 43% of the population believe demons exist and 41% believe in psychic abilities, while oddly a smaller number - 38% - believe in ghosts.

Around 50% of Americans maintain that some people possess supernatural powers, with 29% believing that they are one of those people.

10% even claim to be capable of seeing future events.

The poll also found that around 6% believe that vampires and werewolves are the real deal.

60%... is that good or bad?

It would likely fall in to the category of group hallucination. Where one person is the "first domino". Then the others perhaps unintentionally collaborate the first witness experience. I like to think of it as a thought contagion.

If the witnesses didn't know about it beforehand and all saw the same thing, well that is mind reading which is unprovable also, some would say paranormal. Until mind reading can be proven I'm sticking with my take.

That is true but witnesses complicate this.

I'd prefer 60% of the gold bullion than the remaining 40%, lol.

If this collective thought process has a physical effect on objects then we're talking paranormal telekinesis aren't we?

I honest don't care what you think. I know for a fact that I won't change a single person's mind. Which makes all of this nonsense an exercise in futility on my part.

I don't care anymore. I've wasted enough of my time on this nonsense. Believe whatever you want. It doesn't matter what I think.

Just putting a good point across with no reasonable explanation available but if you think of one feel free to share. I don't feel the need to change minds but am always looking for answers.

I am an equal opportunity gourmet. I will not eat ghost humans, but I am willing to taste ghost pork or ghost duck or ghost beef. If anyone can prove the existence of such ghost edible animals, I know a cook who has a skillet.
