The tech billionaire has seemingly set his sights on fulfilling the dream of building a car that can actually fly.
Flying cars seem to have been 'just around the corner' for decades now and while human-rideable drones have partially moved to fill this niche, these still don't really fulfill the dream of a genuine flying car like those seen in science-fiction movies such as
Back to the Future Part 2.
Now, though, it seems as though Elon Musk may finally be about to make the idea a reality.
Speaking on
The Joe Rogan Podcast recently, Musk hinted at the reveal of a flying vehicle that we might even get to see before the end of this year.
"We're getting close to.... demonstrating the prototype.," he said. "One thing I can guarantee is that this product demo will be unforgettable. Unforgettable."
"Whether it's good or bad, it will be unforgettable."
When Rogan pressed him to elaborate, Musk replied by saying that it "had a shot at being the most memorable product unveil ever," before adding that he was hopeful for a reveal before the year is out.
Before anyone gets too excited, though, it's important to note that Musk has been talking about building a flying car for years, so it isn't exactly a new claim.
Still, if such a thing actually does materialize this time (and potentially quite soon), it will certainly be interesting to see what the billionaire has actually come up with.
