A visitor from the US recently reported a sighting of something unexplained in Scotland's enigmatic loch.
It has become something of a tradition for visitors to Loch Ness - which contains more water than all the lakes of England and Wales combined - to glance out over its murky surface in the hope of catching a glimpse of its most famous resident, the Loch Ness Monster.
The latest such sighting - which was reported on October 28th at around 2:45 p.m. - comes courtesy of Mishawn Mielke from Texas who had been visiting Urquhart Castle at the time.
According to the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register, Mielke described seeing something resembling a head emerging from the water that seemed to belong to a much larger creature.
"I first saw it and was like wow, that looks just like images I saw from the sightings website," she said.
"It didn't look like a wave, it actually looked like the head of something popping up."
"It made a distinct pattern in the water I couldn't see anywhere else, kind of like its own wake. And than it was gone. From that distance I'd say the water pattern was at least 3m long."
Sadly, as is often the case with such sightings, there is no way of knowing exactly what it was that she saw.
While she did take a photograph, it is so blurry and indistinct that it's impossible to make out - again something not uncommon due to the images being captured from very far away.
This is the fifth official sighting of 2025 and with the end of the year closing fast, it will also most likely be the last.
