A dark shape in the churning waters of Loch Ness made the official sightings register earlier this month.
Could there be a monster lurking in the depths of Scotland's most famous loch ?

One man - Moray resident Peter Hoyle - has perhaps a better idea than most after he spotted something strange in the water while visiting the area at around 1:30 p.m. back on October 15th.

According to the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register, the incident began when Hoyle noticed a dark shape protruding from the water which then started to move across the loch.

It moved from the right side of the loch toward the left before disappearing after about 20-30 seconds.
He managed to snap a photograph, but given the size of the object and the distance involved, the resulting image is indistinct to put it mildly - it's impossible to tell what it could have been from the picture alone.

Hoyle's sighting is the fourth this year, meaning that 2025 has already beaten 2024's tally.

Unfortunately, as often tends to be the case, there's really no way to know what he actually saw.

The Loch Ness Monster, it seems, remains as elusive as ever.
