An unexpected disaster has managed to destroy a 1.2 million-square-foot toilet roll storage facility.
Eyebrows were raised along the West Coast this week when it emerged that a massive warehouse in Ontario, California had been totally destroyed in a fire.
The building, which was owned by Kimberly-Clark (a personal care and consumer goods corporation), is understood to have been storing large quantities of toilet paper at the time.
According to reports, investigators believe an arsonist was responsible and an arrest has been made of one of the employees who worked there.
The other workers at the facility were thought to have escaped unharmed from the blaze.
Given the size of the warehouse (1.2 million square feet) and the sheer amount of toilet paper that had been stored there, concerns have since been raised over whether the loss of the building will lead to shortages of Scott and Cottonelle toilet rolls across the country.
According to analysts, however, only the West Coast is likely to be impacted.
On top of this, Kimberly-Clark have moved to reassure consumers that efforts are now being made to ensure that enough toilet paper is available in the affected areas.
