Our haunted house

Image Credit: sxc.hu When I was about 6 or 7 I lived in a house that was about 60 years old. It was a great house and my siblings and I still talk about it. Recently however we all discovered that we had each seen and heard things in the house that the others hadn't known about or experienced.

On one occasion it had been raining at night and I had been in the kitchen when I heard noises coming from the floor. I laid down and listened to the sounds to see where they were coming from. We had a cellar directly under the kitchen and it sounded like someone was walking around down there. None of my family had been down there as it was raining and my parents kept the cellar locked. When I told my older sister to listen she said she couldn't hear it.

On another occasion it had also been raining when my sister heard footsteps outside near the cellar. She had turned the lights on in the backyard and wasn't able to see anything but she could still hear someone walking around near the cellar for a few more moments.My dad also told us that one night while he was laying in bed at about 2 or 3 a.m. he had heard someone walking in the hallway and dragging something that sounded like chains on our wooden floors. When he got up to look he couldn't see anything and the floor was fine.

The last thing I remember living in that old house was seeing a face in the bathroom window. It had been there for quite a few months. I was the only one that could see it apparently and it wasn't a scary face, in fact it just stared into the bathroom. Being a child I tried to debunk it the best I could. There was nothing outside that was casting shadows or lights on to the window. I tried several theories but I couldn't understand why it was there. One day it simply disappeared. Not sure why but I never saw it again and my family thought I had made it up.

Today that house is still there and it is now 91 years old.
