British scientists believe they have cracked the answer to one of the most enduring riddles of all time.

According to researchers it was the chicken that came first because a protein required for the formation of an egg can only be found inside the chicken's ovaries. "It had long been suspected that the egg came first but now we have the scientific proof that shows that in fact the chicken came first," said Dr. Colin Freeman.

"It is an age-old riddle that has perplexed generations: Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Now British scientists claim to have finally come up with the definitive answer: The chicken."

This puzzle is a vicious circle and actually has no answer, the chicken has laid an egg at the same time the chicken was born from the egg, nor is it really a puzzle because it is assumed that a puzzle has, as difficult to find an answer that is inherent in the application, this is just a play on words

dinos evolved into chickens and dinos laid eggs. the egg came first. Weren't all of the dinos killed off though before they had a chance to evolve into chickens ? Even their eggs and contents of eggs were wiped out.

OK...let me get this straight: Billions of years ago, when the earth was a soupy mess, some hunky looking protein became attracted to a foxy amino acid. They came together and -poof- a living thing came into being. Then eons go by and suddenly, by some genetic malfunction, the descendants of said protein/amino acid get-together didn't completely split apart, so now we have multi-celled something-or-others. (Question: if these guys didn't split completely apart, how did they actually reproduce to further this supposed advance in evolution?) Then, after more eon, the cells that make up these mul... dinos evolved into chickens and dinos laid eggs. the egg came first. You know 3 pages in and I have come to realise no matter how many people say this - someone will come along and ignore it saying instead - but wait - for there to be an egg a chicken had to lay it yadi yadi yada ...

I think its just sad that scientists are spending their time on this subject instead of doing something more productive.

But the article didn't tell where the chicken came from. So the mystery is still half resolved. We don't know whether a species evolved into a chicken directly or a species lays a mutated egg that turn out to be a chicken.

Ignore him. He is just trying to turn this into another religion vs. atheism thread for some odd reason. Silly atheists always raging. Seems like he was just pointing out who would find this topic interesting,Seems like you were more along the lines of trying to start a religious debate by clearly slandering athiests On a lighter note,The chicken! It had to have evolved and in turn created the egg
