Dreaming is the brain's way of learning

New research has boosted the idea that sleep and dreaming can help the brain to learn things.
The study demonstrated that those who went to sleep and dreamt about a task they had been performing were able to perform it better when they woke up. Volunteers were shown a 3d maze and were asked to escape it a few hours later, those who were given the chance to sleep during that time and dreamt about the maze were able to solve it quicker than those who stayed awake.
A new research has offered more evidence for some long-held notions that sleep and dreams boost learning. According to researchers of the study, people who take a nap and dream about a task they've just learned perform it better upon waking than either those who don't sleep at all or those who sleep but don't report any associated dreams.

No wonder I've been failing maths! I can't remember the last time I had a dream. This explains so much The trick is to start studying for a test a couple days before then get a good night sleep the night before. Usually you dream but you don't remember it. All nighters don't work, even if you know the material. You have to get that sleep for it to sink in. I have known that long before they did that study. Don't be afraid to go in and ask your teacher for help. They are there to teach and they don't mind giving extra help if you need it. Other wise they are just wasting their time.

Dreams can solve many problems in life. It helps people to think more clearly for one thing by having a well rested mind. And in the process of resting it develops a bond with every day problems and helps you solve the problems that seem harder when awake. I built a rail buggy one time about five years ago. I had just about everything done but the electrical so I started building my electrical harness from scratch it seemed easy enough. Well everything went like clock work but when I got to the brake lights I couldn't make the brake pedal switch turn on the brake lights. I tried everything I c... [More]

I knew that your knowledge is learned while you sleep as well.. but whats interesting, is i swear Ive had dreams before on events or knowledge that I didn't even knew I had. I think I've done that too. I once dreamt I was holding a black snake which I was using to write Arabic on the wall with(it looked Arabic anyway). One of the eyes of the snake was leaking black ink and I was using the eye to write on the wall with. It looked like Arabic and when I became more aware of what I was doing I was surprised at what I had been doing. It was also weird because I dreamt that dream on the 27th Novemb... [More]

I think if i would have taken this test i would have awoken telling them my dream of watching people die before my eyes or a lion biting of someones leg or some messed up crap like that. I cant say i believe that my dreams are reflections of any events i have learned that day because honestly who wants to dream about stuff you learn in a business class.

I've always been surprised just how well written some of my dreams seem to be. They are seriously as good or better than most books and movies I read/watch just in terms of their story quality.
