A leading authority on aging has claimed that within two years a drug could be available to extend lifespans past 100.
Professor Nir Barzilai believes that such drugs are not only currently in development but that they will be available for testing within a couple of years. The research is based on determining exactly how cells die.
A pill that will help you live to 100 and beyond may be available within two years, The Sun reported Wednesday. The drugs — a spin-off from research into age-related illnesses such as Alzheimer's — are already being developed, according to an American professor.

If you read or re-read the article, it says that you'd likely be in great health while living to that age.

well, that would be because your comment was incredibly rude and out of line. You do not have the right to be rude here. We have rules here about that kind of thing; rules you agreed to abide by when you joined up here. I guess that depends on the comment and the poster, I have seen my believes and opinions (and others) get rudely bashed because they are in the minority and not have any "moderator intervention". As far as my post I had here being rude or out of line, it was a humorous comment concerning a particular religions point of view on something and not directed at any individual in spe... [More]

According to two different physicians I've spoken with over the past two or three years "Due to modern medical advances, most people are already 20 years younger than their chronological age. And the next advances will be coming in four or five years, not 20." So that makes me 48 rather than 68! (And eligible, to boot.)

Well theres good and bad to this. I mean yeah sure I dont wanna die would love to live forever....or atleast past 100. The thing is. According to the bible " Which I think is BS btw " People used to live for a few hundred years. But being able to live past 100 would be great people could enjoy there retirement. Watch your grand kids grow up, enjoy life. Things of that nature.....then again there are some that don't wanna live that long due to being in debt...being alone...so on and so on. Theres good and bad with everything.

I believe the fact that this would be a pill would address your statement about the good and bad, some people not wanting it. Unless the government starts force feeding these pills to the populace, you could choose not to take them.

Sounds great, then I won't have to take all these vitamins and eat alfalfa all day long.

Over-population That's why we would need to compensate with strict birth control measures. 100 years is pretty wimpy though, 300+ would be preferable. We'd also need a cure for cancer, as a person's odds of acquiring cancer increase as they live longer, and all of this stuff would have to be free or some heads are gonna roll.

Personally, I wouldn't like living that long.

Ugh its not the quanitity of life its the quality..when will they start getting that through their thick skulls so we can have better health care. Even though medical technology has gone up, medical care has gone down...the latter is more important to me.

I'm all for it. Some people aren't. So they are not obliged to follow such a program.
