One of the most well known and enduring ghost photographs of all time may have finally been solved.
Taken by Tony O'Rahilly in 1995 during a fire at Wem Town Hall the famous photograph shows what appears to be a ghostly girl standing in the flames. Up until his death O'Rahilly claimed that it wasn't a hoax but now researcher Brian Lear may have uncovered a postcard that allegedly shows the very same girl that appeared in the photograph.
A 15-year-old mystery surrounding a photograph which supposedly showed the ghost of a schoolgirl standing in an inferno has been resolved, after a researcher found the image is copied from a postcard.

This photo here is a real apparition, and it is ironic that a real ghost was used in a fabrication. I have it on high authority that is the highest quality ghost photo taken to date. It is so good that it looks almost exactly like a living girl. Notice the distortion on the side of the face, something very indicitive of a ghost apparition. I hope you're kidding. Look at the high-res scan if you aren't.

Looking at the two dark areas circled by Frank in the image comparison I have two questions: 1 - If they are shadows, what would be the probability that identical shadows would appear in two different pictures 2 - Why would there be shadows on a ghost in the first place. Since you can see through the supposed ghost, indicating that light can pass through it. How are shadows cast? 1 - Theres endless possibility that the shadows could be identical and not be the same picture (its very feesable, i play with art and pictures all the time and see TONS of the same shadows OVER and OVER again). 2 - W... People who perpetrate hoaxes should have "Here lies a liar." etched on their tombstone.

Wow...what a detective!...But either way (either pic.)...I think the girl looks really ominous...strange evil glare on her face.If there ever was a picture to be made as a ghost, it would definitely be this one!

There is one alternative explanation though....the girl in both pictures is the same girl...but in the 'ghost' picture she is actually a ghost... It just dawned on me that we're all assuming that because we have a picture of the real person that it could never be a ghost even though ghosts by definition used to be people....don't know if anyones suggested that, skim read a lot of posts...food for thought!!!

DANG IT! I loved that picture. . . I don't get why people are still questioning whether or not it's a hoax. Yes, sometimes ghosts appear as if photographed or in a loop from a certain period in time but what are the chances it would be that exact moment? And why would it be from that photograph? Seriously lol It's fake.
