The final chilling letter penned by Scott's Antarctic expedition has been revealed for the first time.
Sir Edward Wilson had written the letter as the crew found themselves without supplies and unable to proceed due to a blizzard. "This looks like a finish to our undertaking," he wrote, "for we are out of food and oil and not able to move for three days now on account of the blizzard." Robert Falcon Scott and his men all died on their journey back from the South Pole in 1912, what we know of their plight was discovered in the form of documents and letters found by a rescue team several months later.
Almost a century after Captain Scott and his team perished on a polar expedition, the final letter from their ill-fated adventure has been uncovered for the first time. The moving message from Scott's closest comrade Sir Edward Wilson reveals that the party were resigned to their fate as the end approached.

Why only now? What took so long? 'Some of them are so fragile and valuable that they probably won’t go on display again for another hundred years.' WTF????

Wow, amazing letters. very sad ending of course, but i got a kick out of the " i'm going outside.... and may be some time." . . . I thought commander Scott was maybe a little too blunt by beginning his last letter to his wife with... Dear widow,

I found the expedition to be a sad but compelling topic.

'Dear widow...' Not your conventional way of starting a letter. I'd be picking he wasn't a paticularly emotional type of man. Interesting.
