A secret organisation has been accepting large donations to undermine the science of global warming.
According to The Independent newspaper, certain groups have been involved in funneling large amounts of money towards counteracting claims of climate change and global warming on behalf of anonymous billionaire donors with high stakes in fossil fuel industries.Sociologist Robert Brulle has estimated that more than $500 million has been given to such organisations over the last ten years. "We really have anonymous giving and unaccountable power being exercised here in the creation of the climate countermovement," he said. "There is no attribution, no responsibility for the actions of these foundations to the public."
A secretive funding organisation in the United States that guarantees anonymity for its billionaire donors has emerged as a major operator in the climate "counter movement" to undermine the science of global warming, The Independent has learnt.
