The lucid dreamer - part 3

Throughout history, dreams have been more than just neat movies that entertain us during our nightly sojourns into unconsciousness. Dreams have been interpreted as messages from the gods, used to solve problems, and foretell the future. There are innumerable modern examples of people having strange dreams warning them of imminent disaster, or granting them the solution to a thorny problem. It is known that a dream is a message from the subconscious mind, sometimes quite literal in its interpretation, and at other times highly symbolic. These ideas of foretelling and problem solving speak of the power of the subconscious' ability to perceive more than our five senses would ordinarily allow. It is also believed by traditions and teachings both new and old that, if we choose to, we can visualize an object that we wish to possess, and that thing will manifest itself in our lives. The key to these visualizations is invariably detail and intensity. The more detail you can visualize, the greater the likelihood that your desire will appear. With greater intensity, the effect is magnified further. It is thought that this intense visualization sends a powerful message to the subconscious mind, allowing to work on those desires, and helping us manifest them in our conscious world.

A lucid dream is characterized by both vividness and intensity. It is a super-real landscape constructed from a unique blend of both your subconscious and conscious minds. What if we could take all these disparate elements of extra sensory knowledge, intensity, and lucid interaction, and deliberately use them to manifest a life and future that we desire? Imagine that you could enter a lucid dream, and accessing your subconscious knowledge, see a future event? In the lucid state, as my own dream seems to suggest, could you then interact with that future event and change the outcome to one that is beneficial to you?

It is no secret that our unconscious mind defines our conscious lives in ways we are seldom even aware of. The lucid dream is a unique state in which we are able to have a one on one conversation with a normally inaccessible part of our minds, the part that defines and limits our daily lives. Through the dreamscape we are able to directly tell our subconscious mind about our desires, our wants, and our unfulfilled needs. It is my belief that through the facility of the lucid dream, we may be able to sculpt the very shape of our own worlds to better suit our needs, wants, and desires.
Having said that, I do believe that the universe has an intelligence of its own, and that intelligence will not allow our dreams to manifest as someone else's nightmares. That is to say, if I have a desire that would in some way (unintentionally) cause someone else to come to harm, the universe will not allow it. Beyond that stipulation, it is my theory and belief that anything that we care to dream about can be made manifest reality.

Whatever you wish to change in your life, lucid dreaming may be the way and means to make it happen. After all, we can always dream, can't we?

I agree to most of the topic, however I don't think that dreaming of flying could help me achieving this ability... *sigh* However, this article was really a good piece of work, well done!

I agree to most of the topic, however I don't think that dreaming of flying could help me achieving this ability... *sigh* I can't disagree with you there... however, learning to control your lucid dreams might be. Until we have more examples, or better yet, documented proof, it remains a neat theory at best. I have been trying to learn to lucid dream on demand, but can't seem to get past the "remember your dreams" part... I am not a morning person, so that probably doesn't help *grog* However, this article was really a good piece of work, well done! Thanks, it was fun to write

i have a question about this lucid dream which makes me think more often our dreams has meanings right? what if we control our dreams in lucid state, what happened to the meaning of that dreams? do we manipulate our real world through lucid dream?

our dreams has meanings right? what if we control our dreams in lucid state, what happened to the meaning of that dreams? do we manipulate our real world through lucid dream? That's an interesting question, PulsE, and kind of where I was going with the articles. My favorite theory (and it's just a theory), runs like this: we know that our unconscious mind communicates to our conscious mind through our dreams, using symbols and representations. If, as I believe, our minds can effect change in the "real" world, then by manipulating our lucid dreams, we can indeed manipulate the fabric of our rea... [More]
