Image Credit: stockxpert November 15, 2009 – Brunswick, New York, The ISIS Paranormal Investigations team investigated a private home situated in Brunswick, New York after being contacted by an individual that was concerned for the safety of her son, his fiancé, and their 5 month old child residing in the Brunswick home. The mother, Ann, had contacted us with concerns that the home that her son and his family are living in is haunted and she explained that at first little incidents would occur, but that the activity was increasing and becoming more aggressive. After putting us directly in touch with her son, an investigation at the location was scheduled.
[b]Interview[/b]
The couple has resided in the location for a period of nine months in a five room apartment. The apartment building is located near a pond, so a semi-large water source is nearby the site. Unexplained events include closet doors opening without aid, bedroom doors opening without aid, the heat being turned up without explanation, and doors slamming shut by themselves. The doors that have been opened without aid all have large mirrors covering the entire exterior of the doors. The female at the location, who we will refer to as Marie, reported to us that she has seen a tall, shadowy figure that looked like a male standing over her fiancé, who we will refer to as Anthony, while he was sleeping in the master bedroom of the location.
Additional reports include the fact that the baby is constantly woken in the middle of the night, sometimes six to seven times in one evening, even when the child sleeps soundly through the night when not at the location under investigation. Much of the activity reported seemingly centered on the child’s room, and the activity began shortly after the baby came home from the hospital five months earlier. On occasion, the child will appear to be looking or focusing on something that is not visible. The couple’s dog is also affected: sometimes the dog will bark as if something has entered the household even when nothing is visibly present.
Anthony, age 23, and Marie, age 22, have no present religious affiliations or preferences. Marie had attended Catholic school as a child, had practiced Wicca for a couple of years, but remains without any type of religious preference or practice at this time. They have never blessed the location, and clergy has not been contacted previously in regard to the activity in the home. Marie is a college graduate and Anthony has some college education. No attempts to bless or cleanse the home were conducted before our visit to the location. There have been recent renovations at the site due to a water break about a month-and-a-half before we were called into investigate the site.
Both Anthony and Marie are healthy with no existing mental health issues. Anthony does however, have Crohn's Disease, and his symptoms worsened and were diagnosed roughly two weeks after moving into the location. They do not use illegal substances, and neither of the clients is taking any kinds of medications that might have any kind of influence on their perceptions. They do not use herbs and they have never experimented with the use of any herbs to have visions. Occasional, social use of alcohol is reported.
Marie maintains an interest in the paranormal and occasionally watches paranormal television shows, horror movies, and she reads paranormal fiction. They have not conducted any kind of research on the present location and they have not spent any time researching the paranormal via the Internet. There have been no prior groups that have investigated the site, and no media has been involved with the case. The clients deny the use of the Ouija and they have not had any types of séances at the location.
Marie does not claim to have any psychic abilities. She reports that she has never found unexplained objects in the home, and she owns only one antique which she received from a family member. She denies experiencing memory loss or an unexplained lost sense of time at any time while living at the location. Marie did explain that Anthony sometimes sleeps restlessly, and that on occasion he sleepwalks. Marie also complains of mild insomnia but she is not sure if that is due to the activity at the location or if it can simply be attributed to being a new mother. No one in the home has experienced waking dreams, sleep paralysis, psychic sleep, or night terrors. Marie has, however, had the occasional nightmare. No reports of automatic writing have occurred at the location.
Strange sounds have been experienced by Anthony; he heard unexplained scratching noises in the home. Footsteps were often heard in the upstairs of the location even when the location was vacant for a time period. The couple has also had considerable difficulty with appliances; the brand new television failed to work for a time, several smoke detectors had to be removed because they continually went off without explanation, and a toaster failed to work and had to be replaced. Light bulbs frequently burn out at the location, particularly the light bulb in the ventilation system over the stove.
The clients have never reported any olfactory experiences or smelling strange, odors from an unexplained origin. Marie has experienced cold spots in the master bedroom however; while lying in bed she has felt a mild temperature change near her right arm which made the area cold. She also reports being touched by an unseen force; Marie felt something poke her in the back when she was in the laundry room of the location. She brushed at her back and the sensation disappeared. Marie additionally reports seeing fleeting shadow figures out of the corner of her eye.
Ann, Anthony’s mother, remained at the location during the investigation and explained that while we were doing the investigation, the name of “Brian” came to her without any kind of explanation. Ann is a practicing Wiccan with intuitive/psychic abilities so we took a note of her experience at that time. We have not uncovered any connection between the name of Brian and the ongoing activity in the home.

The location where the clients reside is only twenty years old as it was originally built in 1989, and the site is located within the boundaries of Rensselaer County, New York. The town of Brunswick was first established in the early 1700s. It was at one time a part of Rensselaerswyck as well as Troy and it was incorporated in the early 1800s as Brunswick. The location is known as an agricultural location, but it has increased dramatically in terms of population since the twentieth century.
From the years 1745 – 54, the war between the French and English affected this area, since many people were forced to flee their homes or to otherwise succumb to the attacks made by savage French allies, and the difficulties in the region did not settle down completely until 1760 after the French collapse in Quebec. Interestingly, when the Revolutionary War occurred, again many people in the region of Brunswick, not yet incorporated as such, feared for their lives and abandoned their farms and homes to move down river where they felt safer.
[b]Paranormal Photographic Captures[/b]
A number of images with orbs were captured at the site, but they had to be discounted due to the several large mirrors in the location that might be responsible for producing light refracted orbs.

No positive video footage was captured at the location.
[b]Paranormal EVPs Readings:[/b]

[b]Paranormal EMF Readings: [/b]
No abnormal EMF readings were detected while at the location.
[b]Paranormal Temperature Fluctuations[/b]
The temperature remains a consistent 77 degrees Fahrenheit and 25 degrees Celsius throughout most of the location during our investigation, with the exception of a single fluctuation in the master bedroom. The temperature in the corner of the master bedroom dropped down to 71.2 degrees Fahrenheit for a brief time period. The temperature fluctuation occurred in a location where activity has been reported by the client.
The child’s bedroom had a base reading of 64.4 degrees Fahrenheit and the temperature increased near the child’s closet to 68.3 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature fluctuation occurred in a location where activity has been reported by the client.
[b]Dowsing Rods[/b]
At 10:35 am: Patricia was using dowsing rods while in the dining room of the location. The dowsing rods swung toward the large mirrors on the exterior of the closet doors in the dining room. This same action repeated in the master bedroom as well as in the child’s bedroom; the dowsing rods continually moved toward the large mirrors covering the exterior of all the closet doors in the home.
Upon returning to the dining room area, the dowsing rods then split with one pointing directly at the mirror and the opposite rod pointing directly at the clients.
At 10:59 am: While using the dowsing rods in the master bedroom, Justyn notes that the rods split apart when they were positioned over the center of the bed.
[b]Pendulum Readings[/b]
At 10:36 am the pendulum was used in the living room of the location. It began to swing slowly in a widdershins direction: suggesting the presence of unseen energy or an electromagnetic field disturbance, potentially negative in nature.
[b]Psychic Impressions and Artistry[/b]
At 10:38 am: Angela sensed the presence of a male apparition. This experience correlates with the reports given to us by the client in the interview conducted after our initial investigation. Angela sketched the image of a man sitting in a chair. Her notes read “image of an unhappy man, slouching.” The image is available in our photo gallery for review.
At 10:41 am: Angela sketched an image while in the living room. The image is of a figure in the mirror of the bedroom. Angela’s notes read, “mostly shadowy, large figure, can’t get clear detail.” This picture matches the reports given to us by the client that a tall shadowy male figure has been seen in the home standing over her fiancé at night. The image is available in our photo gallery for review.
At 10:46 am: Angela sketched another image of a man. Her notes read: “image of a thin, white male in his early 30s. Dark hair, small goatee, narrow face, receding hairline – got the impression this is someone still alive who had a role in bringing ‘things’ to the location and perhaps triggering activity.”
At 10:56 am: Angela sketches the image of a female entity that she senses. Her notes read: “Tall white woman, curly light brown hair, previous resident, unknown time frame.”
At 11:00 am: Angela notes that the energy is lighter in the child’s room and she sensed that activity is attracted to the baby. She also sketched a shadow figure that she identifies as disruptive and negative to the baby.”
Team member Jessica sensed and drew the sketch of “a man with a gray hat, can’t see his face” who was kind of tall with a gray suit, and slacks with brown hair. This description matches some of the descriptions that the client shared with us about the shadowy, tall, apparition wearing a hat that she has seen at the location.
Team member Jessica also sensed a little girl which she sketched. Her notes read, “sensed a little girl holding a teddy bear – looked a little sad or worried. Black-brown, long hair with pigtail in the back, blue night gown with a little pink.”
Other Unexplained Events Reported by Investigators
At 10:25 am: Patricia Gardner notes, “entered about 10:25 am and felt shift in energy right by the hallway. Upon entering the master bedroom of the location, I felt something move through me.”
At 10:30 am: Justyn Staley notes experiencing a slight pain in the right side of his head. Justyn lost his balance in the living room during the event.
At 10:31 am: Psychic artist Angela experiences nausea while in the child’s room. While standing by the closet door in the child’s room, Angela began to develop a headache.
At 10:36 am: Justyn Staley reports experiencing a sharp pain in his right lower back while in the living room of the location.
At 10:39 am: Justyn notes “While in the living room I stood near the front windows and heard ‘Don’t stay here.” These notes correlate with evps we captured at the location requesting that we do not stay and that we leave the site.
At 10:48 am: Angela notes “I got the impression that an illness/instability triggered activity or made a person susceptible to things attaching themselves to him.”
At 10:50 am: Angela’s notes read: “I asked to be given an image of what goes on here / who is here and why. I saw shadow people along the wall in the kitchen – several – shorter stature – low to the ground outlines – not really people shaped but shadow forms.”
At 10:50 am: Justyn sensed that the master bedroom of the home is a focal point of activity at the location.
At 10:51 am: When in the master bedroom facing the mirrors Angela reports experiencing a cold/shiver in spite of the comfortable temperature in the room. Angela’s notes also read: “I got an impression of an old farm on this property.”
At 10:55 am: While in the master bedroom, Justyn reports experiencing a slight pain in the back of his head. His notes also reveal that he “sensed a confused entity.”
At 11:05 am: Justyn notes that he experienced an ache in the right side of his spine while standing in the child’s room of the location while evp samples were being collected.
At 11:07 am: Just two minutes later, the pain Justyn was experiencing shifted to the opposite side of his back when he left the child’s room and entered the living room.
At the close of the investigative process: Angela documents extensive notes about her experiences at the investigation up to that moment. Her notes read as follows:
“I got the impression of illness – stomach ulcer or chronic condition in the stomach. My overall impressions: prior to the investigation, I experienced extreme fatigue and joint pains - I got the impression that negative spirits of a shadowy figure/ vague form inhabit the residence. It is drawn to weakness or illness in one of the residents. I got the impression that the site was once farm land and that the previous owner from that time is present. I also saw the impression of a male spirit and a second male that may be alive and a catalyst to the activity. I sensed an attraction of the malevolent spirits to the mirrors in the home, especially in the baby’s room. I felt that the baby is disrupted by the presence of spirits here.” The latter assertions all align with the complaints posed by the client and to the client reports about the activity in the home. Neither Angela, nor any other team member had prior knowledge of events or activity in the home while conducting the investigation. We conduct a full interview with the client after our investigation is completed.
[b]Issues with Equipment[/b]
At 10:31 am: Batteries drained completely from the digital voice recorder and had to be replaced.
No other equipment malfunctions reported.
[b]Conclusions: Haunted – Individual Targeted[/b]
Positive EVPs, congruent physic experiences, and the experiences of our investigators has led us to conclude that one or more of the individuals in the home is being affected by paranormal activity.
After conducting a full investigation at the location, our team offered the client a clearing ritual. We will be in touch with the client to see if the issue remains under control or if further assistance is warranted.

ISIS investigates a home in Brunswick

Image Credit: stockxpert November 15, 2009 – Brunswick, New York, The ISIS Paranormal Investigations team investigated a private home situated in Brunswick, New York after being contacted by an individual that was concerned for the safety of her son, his fiancé, and their 5 month old child residing in the Brunswick home. The mother, Ann, had contacted us with concerns that the home that her son and his family are living in is haunted and she explained that at first little incidents would occur, but that the activity was increasing and becoming more aggressive. After putting us directly in touch with her son, an investigation at the location was scheduled.
[b]Interview[/b]
The couple has resided in the location for a period of nine months in a five room apartment. The apartment building is located near a pond, so a semi-large water source is nearby the site. Unexplained events include closet doors opening without aid, bedroom doors opening without aid, the heat being turned up without explanation, and doors slamming shut by themselves. The doors that have been opened without aid all have large mirrors covering the entire exterior of the doors. The female at the location, who we will refer to as Marie, reported to us that she has seen a tall, shadowy figure that looked like a male standing over her fiancé, who we will refer to as Anthony, while he was sleeping in the master bedroom of the location.
Additional reports include the fact that the baby is constantly woken in the middle of the night, sometimes six to seven times in one evening, even when the child sleeps soundly through the night when not at the location under investigation. Much of the activity reported seemingly centered on the child’s room, and the activity began shortly after the baby came home from the hospital five months earlier. On occasion, the child will appear to be looking or focusing on something that is not visible. The couple’s dog is also affected: sometimes the dog will bark as if something has entered the household even when nothing is visibly present.
Anthony, age 23, and Marie, age 22, have no present religious affiliations or preferences. Marie had attended Catholic school as a child, had practiced Wicca for a couple of years, but remains without any type of religious preference or practice at this time. They have never blessed the location, and clergy has not been contacted previously in regard to the activity in the home. Marie is a college graduate and Anthony has some college education. No attempts to bless or cleanse the home were conducted before our visit to the location. There have been recent renovations at the site due to a water break about a month-and-a-half before we were called into investigate the site.
Both Anthony and Marie are healthy with no existing mental health issues. Anthony does however, have Crohn's Disease, and his symptoms worsened and were diagnosed roughly two weeks after moving into the location. They do not use illegal substances, and neither of the clients is taking any kinds of medications that might have any kind of influence on their perceptions. They do not use herbs and they have never experimented with the use of any herbs to have visions. Occasional, social use of alcohol is reported.
Marie maintains an interest in the paranormal and occasionally watches paranormal television shows, horror movies, and she reads paranormal fiction. They have not conducted any kind of research on the present location and they have not spent any time researching the paranormal via the Internet. There have been no prior groups that have investigated the site, and no media has been involved with the case. The clients deny the use of the Ouija and they have not had any types of séances at the location.
Marie does not claim to have any psychic abilities. She reports that she has never found unexplained objects in the home, and she owns only one antique which she received from a family member. She denies experiencing memory loss or an unexplained lost sense of time at any time while living at the location. Marie did explain that Anthony sometimes sleeps restlessly, and that on occasion he sleepwalks. Marie also complains of mild insomnia but she is not sure if that is due to the activity at the location or if it can simply be attributed to being a new mother. No one in the home has experienced waking dreams, sleep paralysis, psychic sleep, or night terrors. Marie has, however, had the occasional nightmare. No reports of automatic writing have occurred at the location.
Strange sounds have been experienced by Anthony; he heard unexplained scratching noises in the home. Footsteps were often heard in the upstairs of the location even when the location was vacant for a time period. The couple has also had considerable difficulty with appliances; the brand new television failed to work for a time, several smoke detectors had to be removed because they continually went off without explanation, and a toaster failed to work and had to be replaced. Light bulbs frequently burn out at the location, particularly the light bulb in the ventilation system over the stove.
The clients have never reported any olfactory experiences or smelling strange, odors from an unexplained origin. Marie has experienced cold spots in the master bedroom however; while lying in bed she has felt a mild temperature change near her right arm which made the area cold. She also reports being touched by an unseen force; Marie felt something poke her in the back when she was in the laundry room of the location. She brushed at her back and the sensation disappeared. Marie additionally reports seeing fleeting shadow figures out of the corner of her eye.
Ann, Anthony’s mother, remained at the location during the investigation and explained that while we were doing the investigation, the name of “Brian” came to her without any kind of explanation. Ann is a practicing Wiccan with intuitive/psychic abilities so we took a note of her experience at that time. We have not uncovered any connection between the name of Brian and the ongoing activity in the home.

The location where the clients reside is only twenty years old as it was originally built in 1989, and the site is located within the boundaries of Rensselaer County, New York. The town of Brunswick was first established in the early 1700s. It was at one time a part of Rensselaerswyck as well as Troy and it was incorporated in the early 1800s as Brunswick. The location is known as an agricultural location, but it has increased dramatically in terms of population since the twentieth century.
From the years 1745 – 54, the war between the French and English affected this area, since many people were forced to flee their homes or to otherwise succumb to the attacks made by savage French allies, and the difficulties in the region did not settle down completely until 1760 after the French collapse in Quebec. Interestingly, when the Revolutionary War occurred, again many people in the region of Brunswick, not yet incorporated as such, feared for their lives and abandoned their farms and homes to move down river where they felt safer.
[b]Paranormal Photographic Captures[/b]
A number of images with orbs were captured at the site, but they had to be discounted due to the several large mirrors in the location that might be responsible for producing light refracted orbs.

[b]Paranormal Temperature Fluctuations[/b]
The temperature remains a consistent 77 degrees Fahrenheit and 25 degrees Celsius throughout most of the location during our investigation, with the exception of a single fluctuation in the master bedroom. The temperature in the corner of the master bedroom dropped down to 71.2 degrees Fahrenheit for a brief time period. The temperature fluctuation occurred in a location where activity has been reported by the client.
The child’s bedroom had a base reading of 64.4 degrees Fahrenheit and the temperature increased near the child’s closet to 68.3 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature fluctuation occurred in a location where activity has been reported by the client.
[b]Dowsing Rods[/b]
At 10:35 am: Patricia was using dowsing rods while in the dining room of the location. The dowsing rods swung toward the large mirrors on the exterior of the closet doors in the dining room. This same action repeated in the master bedroom as well as in the child’s bedroom; the dowsing rods continually moved toward the large mirrors covering the exterior of all the closet doors in the home.
Upon returning to the dining room area, the dowsing rods then split with one pointing directly at the mirror and the opposite rod pointing directly at the clients.
At 10:59 am: While using the dowsing rods in the master bedroom, Justyn notes that the rods split apart when they were positioned over the center of the bed.
[b]Pendulum Readings[/b]
At 10:36 am the pendulum was used in the living room of the location. It began to swing slowly in a widdershins direction: suggesting the presence of unseen energy or an electromagnetic field disturbance, potentially negative in nature.
[b]Psychic Impressions and Artistry[/b]
At 10:38 am: Angela sensed the presence of a male apparition. This experience correlates with the reports given to us by the client in the interview conducted after our initial investigation. Angela sketched the image of a man sitting in a chair. Her notes read “image of an unhappy man, slouching.” The image is available in our photo gallery for review.
At 10:41 am: Angela sketched an image while in the living room. The image is of a figure in the mirror of the bedroom. Angela’s notes read, “mostly shadowy, large figure, can’t get clear detail.” This picture matches the reports given to us by the client that a tall shadowy male figure has been seen in the home standing over her fiancé at night. At 10:46 am: Angela sketched another image of a man. Her notes read: “image of a thin, white male in his early 30s. Dark hair, small goatee, narrow face, receding hairline – got the impression this is someone still alive who had a role in bringing ‘things’ to the location and perhaps triggering activity.”
At 10:56 am: Angela sketches the image of a female entity that she senses. Her notes read: “Tall white woman, curly light brown hair, previous resident, unknown time frame.”
At 11:00 am: Angela notes that the energy is lighter in the child’s room and she sensed that activity is attracted to the baby. She also sketched a shadow figure that she identifies as disruptive and negative to the baby.”
Team member Jessica sensed and drew the sketch of “a man with a gray hat, can’t see his face” who was kind of tall with a gray suit, and slacks with brown hair. This description matches some of the descriptions that the client shared with us about the shadowy, tall, apparition wearing a hat that she has seen at the location.
Team member Jessica also sensed a little girl which she sketched. Her notes read, “sensed a little girl holding a teddy bear – looked a little sad or worried. Black-brown, long hair with pigtail in the back, blue night gown with a little pink.”
Other Unexplained Events Reported by Investigators
At 10:25 am: Patricia Gardner notes, “entered about 10:25 am and felt shift in energy right by the hallway. Upon entering the master bedroom of the location, I felt something move through me.”
At 10:30 am: Justyn Staley notes experiencing a slight pain in the right side of his head. Justyn lost his balance in the living room during the event.
At 10:31 am: Psychic artist Angela experiences nausea while in the child’s room. While standing by the closet door in the child’s room, Angela began to develop a headache.
At 10:36 am: Justyn Staley reports experiencing a sharp pain in his right lower back while in the living room of the location.
At 10:39 am: Justyn notes “While in the living room I stood near the front windows and heard ‘Don’t stay here.” These notes correlate with evps we captured at the location requesting that we do not stay and that we leave the site.
At 10:48 am: Angela notes “I got the impression that an illness/instability triggered activity or made a person susceptible to things attaching themselves to him.”
At 10:50 am: Angela’s notes read: “I asked to be given an image of what goes on here / who is here and why. I saw shadow people along the wall in the kitchen – several – shorter stature – low to the ground outlines – not really people shaped but shadow forms.”
At 10:50 am: Justyn sensed that the master bedroom of the home is a focal point of activity at the location.
At 10:51 am: When in the master bedroom facing the mirrors Angela reports experiencing a cold/shiver in spite of the comfortable temperature in the room. Angela’s notes also read: “I got an impression of an old farm on this property.”
At 10:55 am: While in the master bedroom, Justyn reports experiencing a slight pain in the back of his head. His notes also reveal that he “sensed a confused entity.”
At 11:05 am: Justyn notes that he experienced an ache in the right side of his spine while standing in the child’s room of the location while evp samples were being collected.
At 11:07 am: Just two minutes later, the pain Justyn was experiencing shifted to the opposite side of his back when he left the child’s room and entered the living room.
At the close of the investigative process: Angela documents extensive notes about her experiences at the investigation up to that moment. Her notes read as follows:
“I got the impression of illness – stomach ulcer or chronic condition in the stomach. My overall impressions: prior to the investigation, I experienced extreme fatigue and joint pains - I got the impression that negative spirits of a shadowy figure/ vague form inhabit the residence. It is drawn to weakness or illness in one of the residents. I got the impression that the site was once farm land and that the previous owner from that time is present. I also saw the impression of a male spirit and a second male that may be alive and a catalyst to the activity. I sensed an attraction of the malevolent spirits to the mirrors in the home, especially in the baby’s room. I felt that the baby is disrupted by the presence of spirits here.” The latter assertions all align with the complaints posed by the client and to the client reports about the activity in the home. Neither Angela, nor any other team member had prior knowledge of events or activity in the home while conducting the investigation. We conduct a full interview with the client after our investigation is completed.

At 10:55 am: While in the master bedroom, Justyn reports experiencing a slight pain in the back of his head. His notes also reveal that he “sensed a confused entity.”
At 11:05 am: Justyn notes that he experienced an ache in the right side of his spine while standing in the child’s room of the location while evp samples were being collected.
At 11:07 am: Just two minutes later, the pain Justyn was experiencing shifted to the opposite side of his back when he left the child’s room and entered the living room.
At the close of the investigative process: Angela documents extensive notes about her experiences at the investigation up to that moment. Her notes read as follows:
“I got the impression of illness – stomach ulcer or chronic condition in the stomach. My overall impressions: prior to the investigation, I experienced extreme fatigue and joint pains - I got the impression that negative spirits of a shadowy figure/ vague form inhabit the residence. It is drawn to weakness or illness in one of the residents. I got the impression that the site was once farm land and that the previous owner from that time is present. I also saw the impression of a male spirit and a second male that may be alive and a catalyst to the activity. I sensed an attraction of the malevolent spirits to the mirrors in the home, especially in the baby’s room. I felt that the baby is disrupted by the presence of spirits here.” The latter assertions all align with the complaints posed by the client and to the client reports about the activity in the home. Neither Angela, nor any other team member had prior knowledge of events or activity in the home while conducting the investigation. We conduct a full interview with the client after our investigation is completed.
[b]Issues with Equipment[/b]
At 10:31 am: Batteries drained completely from the digital voice recorder and had to be replaced.
No other equipment malfunctions reported.
[b]Conclusions: Haunted – Individual Targeted[/b]
Positive EVPs, congruent physic experiences, and the experiences of our investigators has led us to conclude that one or more of the individuals in the home is being affected by paranormal activity.
After conducting a full investigation at the location, our team offered the client a clearing ritual. We will be in touch with the client to see if the issue remains under control or if further assistance is warranted.
