Police called to the home of an American woman who was shot through the forehead by her husband were astonished when they found that the woman was not only alive but had made herself a cup of tea.
An American woman who was shot in the head by her husband not only survived but made herself a cup of tea. Police and doctors hailed the survival of Tammy Sexton, 47, as miraculous after a bullet from a .38-calibre handgun struck her squarely in the forehead, passed through her skull and exited through the back of her head."

I don't know if it's a true miracle or not; sure seems like one. I hope the woman makes a full recovery and has a nice life. Sounds like her estranged husband got what he deserved. Having had some experience with the .38 caliber (which is similar in ballistics to a 9mm), a shot squarely to the head should be fatal to any human, and many animals as well (grizzly bears excepted).

Points taken from the article........ She is expected to make a full recovery, while her husband shot himself dead after the attack on his wife. Sheriff Mike Byrd said: "When the officer got there she said, 'What's going on?' She was holding a rag on her head and talking. She was conscious, but she was confused about what had happened. "She had made herself some tea and offered the officer something to drink. Poor woman to have lived with such a horrible partner.........to read how she was dazed and confused......poor girl didnt know what hit her...... and the other part makes me laugh a lil..... [More]

Eh, when I was a kid, my uncle... in-law... or aunt married into the families uncle... or something... honestly I don't remember the exact relation... but it's irrelevant anyway. Put a shotgun to the side of his head and fired. Managed to live through that one. Though in his case there was definite damage. Still this is yet another incredibly rare event, lucky lady. Reminds me of the guy that had a knife buried in his skull, straight down the center of his two cerebral hemisphere.

wow the chances of surviving must be enourmous reminds me of a cse on London 10 years ago where a mad-man stabbed a stranger on the Tube. The knife was what i call a "cheese knife", a large chefs blade around 10 inches long and 4 inches tall at the hilt, tapering to a point. The blade went into the top of the victims head and the tip ended up somwhere near the base of his jaw. There is an x-ray image of the entire lengh of the blade embedded in the mans brain, he made a full recovery with only a few minor changes to his speech and co-ordinations.

maybe the bullet hit the memory part of the brain so she forgot all the event leading up to the shooting and the shooting itself?
