A team at Tel Aviv University has found that comets could have brought the missing ingredients required for life in Earth's primordial soup and would have given rise to the first life forms when combined with the Earth's own organic materials.
Comets have always fascinated people. Now, scientists have added a new twist to that fascination -- comets might have provided the elements for the emergence of life on Earth. A team at Tel Aviv University, led by Professor Akiva Bar-Nun, has carried out a study and found that comets were the source of missing ingredients needed for life in Earth's ancient primordial soup, the 'Icarus' journal reported. Thought this wasn't new to be honest. I quite like the idea. Fits a bit with flowers and spores. When a flower withers it releases spores to fertilize other flowers/ground etc. So any planet with life could release spores/ingredients when it dies out, or by impact to set it in course for a new planet bringing life there.

You're correct. This isn't new at all. Must not be much happening out there.

Hmmm... This is old news. But when Immanuel Velikovsky first brought forward this 'theory/hypothesis' way back in the 50s (World's In Collision) he was ridiculed, the laughing stock of the scientific world...Now (just like a meteor/comet revolving round the sun) lol! 'mainstream' Scientific America and New Scientists (many others) appear to be airbrushing it into society's psyche.

This just in, comet knocks icy rock closer to a star, ice thaws, bacteria and mold begin to evolve and grow, life forms and flourishes, highly advanced civilization gives a portion of existing apes an evolutionary push in the right direction via dna manipulation, existing ape kidnaps girlfriend of an italian plumber and forces him to dodge barrels of doom in the hopes of rescuing her.
