For thousands of years people have believed that prayer can help heal the sick and since at least the 19th century scientists have conducted research and experiments to try and determine if this is really the case. Just what is the real power of prayer ?
Health and religion have always been intertwined, most obviously through prayer on behalf of the sick. Does intercessory prayer for sick people actually help heal them ?"

How is prayer any different than the power of positive thinking? Other than the god part? Has anyone studied that? Positive thinking verses negative thinking and how it can effect your health? HN

Prayer is powerful in a biological respect. Anticipation. Anticipation is one of eight basic human emotions. Joy is another. Between Joy and Anticipation you have access to two of humanity's most powerful emotions. Therefore, if prayer becomes a mantra that is meditated upon and the hand position of prayer becomes a mudra, or symbolic gesture of the hands that activates Joy and Anticipation - prayer is a powerful tool in your emotional skill set. To be conscious and aware and to be able to activate Joy and Anticipation at will is a powerful act. Most people in America and elsewhere in media ba... [More]

Worry and stress creates illness and disease, or dis-ease. Joy and anticipation eliminates stress and worry, filling the space the other emotions might happen within. Anything that brings about Joy and Anticipation is a positive and a beneficial plus. Be at ease, be full of joy and in anticipation that something wonderful is coming and yoru body will begin to heal itself to the best of its abilities. If you are full of negativity, your end has been predetermined and you are racing towards that end as an uncsonscious goal of resolution and fullfillment. If you could fill your glass with Joy, An... Sometimes I think prayers are more beneficial to the person who is saying them, it makes that person feel better for having said a prayer about someone or something.

Prayers actually don't work but it's a case of mind over matter - People who believe in prayers - is basically psychological effect on the mind - similar to hypnosis effect. Elsewhere on this website is an article about meditation stating that meditation actualy helps the brain cells therefore prayer is like meditation. People Who Really Believe In It then it works. There is an an old story(don't know the origination), about a Young Boy in a Jungle who survived an extremely cold temperature at night by staring at reflection of light on water pretending that it was warm fire giving out heat by ... If you could fill your glass with Joy, Anticipation, Anger or Sadness - which would you choose? Apparently, we capitalize all Emotions now. Seriously. It's never a good idea to capitalize stuff like that; it looks ridiculous.

bull crap. tell that to my sister in laws 2 year old nephew who died from brain cancer that his stress and worry created his cancer. Some of the worst worriers live till they are 100 and some of the happiest people die at 20. there is no rhyme nor reason. it's just life. but that dis ease crap ? is just that , crap. it's ignorance. and actually there are only supposedly 2 emotions... Love and Fear..everything else falls inbetween. that makes sense. i couldn't put that better...just pure crap, unfiltered crap mixed with a touch of delusion
