How many parallel universes are there ?

For many years scientists have considered the concept that our universe may be only a single part of a multiverse - now new calculations have suggested that the number of universes that exist could be literally astronomical.
Over the past few decades, the idea that our universe could be one of many alternate universes within a giant multiverse has grown from a sci-fi fantasy into a legitimate theoretical possibility.

Judging by current and new emerging research and technology, my prediction is that by 2020 aids and cancer will be eliminated.

Judging by current and new emerging research and technology, my prediction is that by 2020 aids and cancer will be eliminated. And something worse will probably be created to replace it.

I saw a BBC (I think) documentary about parallel universes not to long ago. Its interesting stuff but its hard to wrap one's head around it. Whatever theory might be currently in vogue with the scientific establishment, its certianly not going to be the last. Judging by current and new emerging research and technology, my prediction is that by 2020 aids and cancer will be eliminated. Theres to meny people and to much money to be made from not curing aids and cancer. If aids and cancer are eliminated by 2020, it will only be due to the extinction of people.

Seriously, i've NEVER believed in this alternate universe non sense...its crazy to see send all this time on this type of stuff...just like Jerry said, scientist working on curing HIV, cancer, etc...but a group devoted to creating seedless watermelons...thats how i feel about this stuff Don't you ever wonder where it all came from? Scientists have to be passionate about a field to work in it, you can't take all the the astronomers and physicists and thrust them into medicine. These are the people who will find fusion as a source of near unlimited energy if it is out there to be found.

Just as I confuse pizza with coffey

Theres to meny people and to much money to be made from not curing aids and cancer. If aids and cancer are eliminated by 2020, it will only be due to the extinction of people. That's just silly. There's more money to be made by keeping people alive. After all, if the consumers keep dying, who will buy all the products and services out there? Back to the OP, I think it's odd that the amount of universes is limited to the observer's capacity. After all, I highly doubt just one person would be working on it. Wouldn't the number of potential universes be multiplied by the number of people trying t... [More]

Back to the OP, I think it's odd that the amount of universes is limited to the observer's capacity. After all, I highly doubt just one person would be working on it. Wouldn't the number of potential universes be multiplied by the number of people trying to observe them? I agree completely. Suggesting that a quantum state only collapses to an observable when measured by an actual sentient observer seems kinda wishy-washy. On the other hand, if you read their actual article, it seems like they are suggesting that the limit of observable different universes occurs because there is `only' 10^16 w... [More]

If there was a pill that cured cancer and aids you think the drugs companies and hospitals would want it known ? They make money off people being sick. Health care is about profit actually the money is actually in charging people high prices to help them...i was stabbed a few months back and my bill was over 5 thousand, i wasn't even in the hospital for 12 hours...if they have something that important, i highly believe that they'd make a killing off of it instead of just letting it go to waste
