Alexander the Great not first at Alexandria

Microscopic bits of pollen and charcoal have cast doubt on the notion that Alexander the Great was the first to settle the area in Egypt that would later become Alexandria, with settlements existing there hundreds of years before.
Alexander the Great has long been credited with being the first to settle the area along Egypt's coast that became the great port city of Alexandria. But in recent years, evidence has been mounting that other groups of people were there first.

Several hundred years before hand. wow it will be interesting to hear if they find anything more on these settlements.

Alexander the Great took Egypt from the Persians in 332 BC and made it a part of the the Greek Empire. Late Period II (425 - 342 B.C.E.) The second part of the Late Period is marked as a time of strife from outside and a resurgence of Egyptian culture. Attacks from the Persians and Greeks plagued all three Dynasties, but through luck and strategic planning, the Egyptians were able to stand against the threat, and although mostly isolated, they were even able to counter attack on different occasions.
