Satellite TV "gagging" Earth signals

Also the notion that we are the only species anywhere in the cosmos ever to achieve space travel (albeit a feeble leap to our neighbouring rock) will one day be laughed at in the same way we laugh at the fact that we once thought as a species the world was flat etc. I have seen this idea bantered around a bit, and I do wonder. Being that SETI determined last year that any transmition degrades into white noise at around a light-year or so, it seems to be a moot point.

If there were an alien species capable of interstellar space travel, on the kind of scale it would take to find Earth, I wouldn't put it past them to also have figured out better antennae array to filter out our signals.

I agree. They would definitely have a way to filter out the noise that our transmissions would create.

@ OverSword You comment makes no sense to me, humans are the dominant species on planet earth because we developed the furthest and most likely took out any opposition along the way such as Neanderthals so it would be logical to assume that the same process happens on other worlds were one dominant species basically takes over the planet as we have and reaches at least the level of evolution that we humans have. All the posts here have some sens behind them but i say that there is no need to stop transmitting messages that some intelligent life might find, but if they are so advanced why haven't we heard anything from them yet? The chances of us being the only race that exists in the galaxy are slim after all it is such a huge place so I vote we continue on sending messages to see what we find, but who knows... maybe some sort of life did find our messages and are here on earth, we just don't know about it. But this is just what i think
