In an unusual find the head chef of a Florida restaurant discovered a nine-legged octopus in a seafood shipment.
"I'm like, this can't be. I've seen a lot of octopus," he was quoted as stating. It is believed the additional limb on the octopus is the result of a genetic mutation.
A nine-legged octopus is said to have recently been found in a seafood shipment to Florida. The head chef of Hellas Bakery and Restaurant in Florida, Emmanuel Psomas, made the discovery while he was steaming the octopus, which is a Greek delicacy.

If an octopus has nine arms and legs doesn't he become "noevepus" ??? :innocent:

Well, of course, to each their own... I tend to be a little too enthusiastic about sea food By the way, over here best food is in affordable restaurants, expensive places are playing with food This is still on topic, because the infamous ninth tentacle was discovered in a restaurant. I know what you mean. I love my seafood and the fresher the better. The best I've ever had was in Maine. Like I said I only had octopus twice. Didn't hate but wasn't impressed. To each his own.

Made me LOL and wake the baby! thanks for the heads up. The funny thing is, I cleaned (which involves turning them inside-out) dozens if not hundreds of octopus, squid and cuttlefish and I never noticed there could be something private about their tentacles. Sure, squid and cuttlefish have two arms that are distinctively longer and different than other six legs, but octopus just have eight completely identical limbs and that was it. Until I got an urge to read about it. And people say the more you know, the better? If an octopus has nine arms and legs doesn't he become "noevepus" ??? :innocent... [More]

But it’s great baked too, only it takes few tricks to prepare it properly. Of... [More]

I love all seafood. Squid are known as "quiddle" in Southern England, the traditional way of cooking is to cut into large squares lay them flat and score a diamond pattern into the flesh, slow boil for a long time and serve with butter salt and pepper, i'm not sure about how it tastes? i normally fry it for a couple minuets in a hot pan i mix marinated anchovies (not the salted type) actually i'm mixing these anchovies with everything at the moment, you can now get them from most supermarkets they're marinated in citrus juice and garlic and go with anything that's a bit oily they cut straight ... Never tried them with anchovies, besides I can find only salted marinades over here. It would be far too salty, but I could - actually I have to try this Southern England recipe. I’m slightly suspicious about that long boil, I usually fry them – frighten them actually – just for few minutes on each side, in deep olive oil. You can roll them in flour before frying, it gives them nice crispy taste and also reduces squirting. Squid could be stuffed too: take 8 medium-sized squids, clean them, put bodies in the fridge while you chop tentacles into small pieces. Throw some chopped garlic and ... [More]

The first Mutant Octopus of the sea! Seriously though I don't like seafood at all, the only kind I'll eat (and not often) is Sashimi. I once had rubbery calimari at a resturant and it kinda turned me off sea food.
