DARPA is currently developing a flying vehicle that can both drive along the ground and fly through the air.
If all goes to plan the vehicle could be put in to use by the military as early as 2015, it can seat up to four troops and will go over 250 miles on a single tank of fuel.
Flying cars have always been something typically reserved for science fiction, but they have now come closer to reality. The department tasked with exploring the concept, Defense Advanced Projects Agency (DARPA), has cleared the Transformer (TX) program.
