A new study has shown that chimpanzees have a tendancy to look up to and admire their prestigious fellows.
In a similar manner to the way in which we look up to and admire popular celebrities chimps have shown a similar tendancy to "ape" others of their own kind that are considered to be more prestigious.
Chimpanzees look up to those they consider to be more prestigious, echoing the way that young people admire celebrities such as David Beckham and Cheryl Cole, according to a new study. Researchers found that apes copy the actions of those they consider to have high status within their group.
