Giant South Dakota hailstone breaks US record

A massive hailstone weighing over a kilo has been confirmed as the largest ever recovered in the United States.
The shower that brought it to the ground caused widespread damage including smashed car windscreens and holes in people's house roofs.
According to the National Weather Service, the hailstone that landed in the town of Vivian eclipsed previous record-setters in Nebraska in 2003 and Kansas in 1970.

Jeez....can you imagine being caught outside in such a storm? Without a car to hide in. Ouch or goodnight Vienna or both.

Dang, I've seen some hail but HAIL! That's huge! Not sure being in a car would be protection enough, maybe an old car but even then it would have gone right threw a window.
