A man who had been looking to hear the paranormal sounds of a historical train crash was hit by a real train and died.
History tells of a train that crashed near Statesville, North Carolina in 1891, ever since then the sounds of the train and the screams of the passangers are said to be heard at the site on the anniversary of the disaster.
According to local legend the sounds of the accident, including the whistle of the train and the screams of passengers, can be heard again on the anniversary and each year people go to listen. On the centenary of the crash in 1991 more than 150 people turned up.

What they (the news and whoever posted this)did not mention was that when the train was traveling towards the victim and friends, they were on a mile long trestle. His girlfriend and best friend would not jump off of it...so at the last second he pushed them both off to avoid them being hit. He died a hero and should not be laughed at or made a mockery of.

It's really sad, but I also read that he managed to push someone else out of the way of the train. Funny how no one seems to mention that! He actually pushed two people off and I agree with your point to the fullest.

How can one be so stupid? Just jump off the bridge! Broken legs are better than being SPLAT!

How could he not have heard it?

Maybe right at the last second he was still hoping it was the ghost train so it would pass right through him. But alas. - R.I.P

This is all very funny, but I still wonder how the hell did he actually manage to get himself run over? I mean, come on, the train isn't quiet at all. Did he just "walk to the light"?

What were they doing ON the track? Especially if the track is still in use. Exactly what I was thinking
