One of the UK's leading head teachers has shocked pupils by eating a tarantula at a school assembly.
Aydin Onac was recently awarded a £40,000 golden hello for his success as head of a London secondary school but his latest stunt was somewhat less well-received. "It tasted quite salty, and a little bit like burnt chicken," he said.
While some of his pupils delighted at seeing his discomfort during the ordeal, others were said to be upset, and at least one parent complained that it set a bad example to youngsters.

Good for him, lots of protien, insect are better for you than meat, though I don't plan on changing over.In any case we eat insects all the time. In ceral there are insects, rat droppings and hair they are not a health threat as long as the level is kept down; impossible to get rid of all of it. Also in peanut butter, I read that each table spoon has at least the remains of one insect......yummmmmmmmmmmmy.....now where is my steak. doug

I know I shouldn't be grossed out by it, because I eat shellfish for example, which are really underwater insects, but really big ones. Still, that doesn't seem right. You mean it is wrong?

Thanks HerNibs my Arachnophobia is officially back with that picture you posted. XD Seriously a few years ago, on Oprah she had the cast of Survivor I think. And one of them actually ate a tarantula. There is no way I would ever do that, I wouldn't even touch one. *Shudders* I don't like being in the same room with one. But if it's for charity, I guess... Still couldn't he hate eaten a cricket or a bug or something.

Eating spiders is normal and even a delicacy in some places. And he was doing it for a good cause, a school fundraiser... Exactly! Still, I couldn't have done it, I don't like spiders as HerNibs will tell you That pic of them in a bucket
