Herds of Alpine Ibex goats have been photographed climbing up a near vertical 160ft dam.
The incredible site is testament to how skilled the goats are at traversing their mountainous terrain, with no fear of falling the goats wander around the sheer face of the damn licking the stones for their salts.
At first look you could be forgiven for thinking this photo of the Cingino dam in the Italian Alps is unremarkable, but for the feat of civil engineering it represents. However, look a bit closer and you might feel like a bit of a silly billy for not realising those specks on its sheer 160ft face are something altogether more amazing.
It says they are licking the salt off the wall. Salt!!!?? The rest of their diet must be pretty much lacking in everything.... I wonder does it give them early heartattacks....
The Ibex is very well known for its climbing skills, they are one of the most famous mountain goats for climbing such steep areas and battling it out without falling down and rolling off. I am not surprised to see that they are as well cabaple of climbing up that dam. However very fascinating to see.
That is intense...goats are renowned for their climbing ability, and I have seen them climb some crazy mountain faces and cliffs. But this, this is something else.
Intense and the goats are known for their ability to climb, and saw climb some rocks and crazy side of the mountain. This objective, which is another thing.
