Hatsune Miku is the newest singing sensation in Japan - thing is, she's also a hologram.
She can pack a concert with screaming fans but Hatsune Miku is unlike any traditional singing superstar - comprised entirely of light the hologram has being touring the country and has been met with universal praise.
She is cute, stylish and has had a number one chart-topping single. But Japan’s newest and biggest pop star differs from most of her peers in one crucial aspect: she is a hologram.

It comes down strait and simple to me saying... WTH. If it was a real persone I would understand why one should flock the her concert and buy expensive tickets but when its a hologram whats the point? Sigh, the things that people will spend money on these days. But its still pretty cool though, go Japan for producing the worlds weirdest stuff, it is because of this that we won't bomb your cities anymore And by "we", you must mean, we. Americans!

BoB Anonymous has a point... UM just go's around the internet and takes whatever they deem to be news and puts in on the home page, despite the fact that its been out for decades... And to Mentalcase: We'll America did bomb their cities in WWII but I wasn't targeting America, no offence.

Oh, Japan. You never cease to amaze me. But hey, I'll see you in five months. Stay crazy for me.

Sharon Apple from Macross Plus was way better. XD Ok, but anime aside, pretty neat to see this, but I wouldn't be paying for a concert to see a hologram perform singing with a synthesized voice. Slap this thing on Skynet, it'll BECOME Sharon Apple. Especially since Macross Plus is out there floating the cyberwaves. Agreed about not paying, but cool nonetheless just for the advancements they had to make just to get this far. It'd probably be cooler if she looked real, rather than like an Anime character, but I think it'll be a bit before they're willing to do that. Not able, just willing. I thi... [More]

There are three explicit examples of this very thing in popular - or semi-popular - culture already. The Voyager one that was mentioned, Sharon Apple from Macross Plus, and a Disney Channel original movie dealt with one as well: Pixel Perfect. This ain't a new thing, the article is about something at least a year old, and the idea has been around for decades. Longer if you count Classical myths about Muses and such.

um... this has been out for like ages i mean i heard about it early this year and some people have heard about it a few years back i mean it's no longer interesting news... if you start talking about it now You might have heard about it but I daresay most people outside of Japan have not and would find this very interesting. UM just go's around the internet and takes whatever they deem to be news and puts in on the home page, despite the fact that its been out for decades... I challenge you to show me a single story we've featured that has been out for "decades". The hologram might have been i... [More]
