500m planets in our galaxy could support life

Data from NASA's Kepler telescope suggests there are 50 billion planets in the Milky Way.
To date Kepler has discovered 1,235 planets with 54 of those falling within the 'Goldilocks zone' in which life could potentially exist. Scientists have determined that one in every two stars has at least one planet and that one in 200 stars has a planet thought to be able to sustain life as we know it.
Scientists have estimated the first cosmic census of planets in our galaxy and the numbers are astronomical: at least 50 billion planets in the Milky Way. At least 500 million of those planets are in the not-too-hot, not-too-cold zone where life could exist. The numbers were extrapolated from the early results of NASA's planet-hunting Kepler telescope.

If there are 50 million planets that can support life THEN 'Instead of fighting and killing humans on earth we MAY concentrate on research work to exploit the resources of other life supporting planets BUT after being sure that earth resources are NOT good enough. Come on now... We have to mine the Astroid Belt first!

Yahoo News: Study: Life possible on 500 million planets in our galaxy The ETH gets stronger every day. Life is possible, yes. But the chance of that life being intelligent, being intelligent and advanced, and being intelligent, advanced and here out of all the other planets to go to leaves a much smaller pool of planets to choose from...

I don't care. Intelligent or not, there's bound to be life regardless of its significance.

Hahah we should explore them?!?! Are you kidding me? First off, it takes 4 light years to get to the closest star, and thats traveling at the speed of light 186,000 miles per SECOND! The fastest we have ever made a satellite travel is 150,000 miles per hour and thats only because of our SUNs gravety that pulled it in! This is only 41 miles per second. We will never be able to travel to other stars and solar systems. We can barely make it to Pluto! And that takes us 9 years just ONE WAY!
