Will Super Moon cause widespread disaster ?

Richard Nolle claims that on the moon's closest approach on March 19th chaos will ensue.
Referring to the event as an "extreme supermoon" Nolle believes that the event will generate a series of natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic erruptions and huge storms. While it sounds far-fetched scientists have been studying the possibilities of similar scenarios for decades.
On March 19, the moon will swing around Earth more closely than it has in the past 18 years, lighting up the night sky from just 221,567 miles (356,577 kilometers) away. On top of that, it will be full. And one astrologer believes it could inflict massive damage on the planet.

In the past when the moon has come close, usually about 30 days later there are major earthquakes. In fact there was a fellow who was predicting earthquakes based on that assumption some years ago. Now the where is the tricky part. As we have seen the quake and subsequent tsunami in the Indian ocean put strain elsewhere. The Japan quake has done the same, but where? I'm thinking Hawaii and Alaska. Could smack Chili again though. Then again California is due for a big one or two. Since the earth is always changing and climate has ALWAYS changed. Just keep your eyes and ears open. The USGS is a ... [More]

You all realize that he didnt predict a major earthquakefor japanese time? He said minor seismic activity, and also the moon was actually farther away during the super moon.

...and also the moon was actually farther away during the super moon. Nope, the so-called "super moon" was at perigee (ie, closer to the Earth). Perigee moons are as much as 14% larger and 30% brighter than full moons at apogee (ie, farther from the Earth).

I am still living and breathing. Nothing happened, much like nothing will happen on the evening of December 21st, 2012.
