In search of the Orang-Pendek

Nick Redfern takes a look at Adam Davies' expedition to Sumatra in search for the Orang-Pendek.
Davies will be leading a team from Britain's Center for Fortean Zoology to the depths of Sumatra to find the bigfoot-like ape creature that is rumoured to exist there. Davies himself believes that the creature is real without question, citing numerous eye-witness accounts from locals and even one from fellow CFZ member Dave Archer in 2009.
Adam notes that success was all achieved in 2009, when “the hair samples we brought back were analyzed by Lars Thomas, who again came to the conclusion that they were from an ‘unknown primate. ’”

Not to stir things up too much, but what Hanno reported was hairy people or apes. The deion could just as easily be the other ape that lives in that region, the chimpanzee. http://www.livius.org/ha-hd/hanno/hanno02.html I've read that the interpreters were from the area of Senegal and that those people had a word for the tribesmen that lived nearby that were savages that was very like gorillae. So some people suspect that Hanno's interpreters were simply calling the apes they found "savages". Also note that in Senegal where the interpreters were from, they locally have chimps, but not gorillas... [More]

What was the argument about, again?

It's debatable.... You and I are living proof of that

What was the argument about, again? Something to do with the Orang Pendek not being a Gorilla I think...... we are staying on topic, ..... I promise....

I found this on the Bigfoot Forums. Apparently a magazine (or journal?) published an article that claims the Orang Pendak is an actual animal, based on hair samples, and footprints mostly. http://bigfootforums.com/index.php?/topic/4870-congratulations-orang-pendek/ I found the hair comparison to be very interesting. Still, there needs to be good photos, or a body found of one before it can be scientifically recognized.

Because we can't protect a species that we do not know exists or understand the ecology of. they have done great without us (havent gone endangered) i reckon they would be better of with us thinking they are fake edit: people are saying this is very much possible because its just a large primate well isnt bigfoot a large primate? and its been said that bigfoot could be some mountian gorrilla or even a branch of human evolution i mean i gaint ape isnt imposible

Well I think you can make that argument regarding religion . Physics is entirely different and is based on demonstrable, repeatable evidence. sorry for multi post i just ont know how to add more than one quote alot of physics is theory work (an example might be astro physics i.e wormholes and string theory and might one mention the event horizon the guy has a point every aspect of science involves theory which means its unproven otherwise it would be refered to as fact

I seriously think this is one cryptid that has evidence accumulating towards it's existence, if you watch beast hunter you would know what I mean. It's out there.
